Frequently Asked Questions

Would I or my child benefit from speech-language therapy?

Speech-language therapy can address a variety of communication needs. For articulation and phonology, signs might include speech sound errors such as saying “wabbit” for “rabbit”, a lisp, or simplifying a consonant cluster (e.g. saying “pane” for “plane”). For language, children and adults may have difficulty following directions, participating in conversations, expressing themselves clearly, or answering questions. For literacy, challenges often appear as difficulty decoding words or challenges with reading comprehension. For aphasia, therapy may be helpful after a stroke or other brain injury when there are changes in communication, such as trouble finding words, understanding spoken language, or difficulties with reading and writing. An evaluation is the best way to determine individual strengths and needs, and to guide recommendations for therapy.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, we are private pay only. A superbill (an itemized receipt with service codes) can be provided for families who wish to submit it to their insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed, and it is the client’s responsibility to confirm whether their plan covers out-of-network speech therapy services. The practice is not responsible for determining eligibility or handling insurance claims.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Payment is due at the time of service. Accepted forms of payment include cash, credit/debit cards, checks, and HSA/FSA cards. A credit card will be kept on file to streamline billing.

How long are the sessions?

Session length and frequency are determined after the initial evaluation to ensure services are tailored to each client’s needs.

Is an evaluation required?

Yes, an evaluation provides essential information about strengths and needs, and helps guide treatment planning and recommendations.

Where will services be held?

Services are available to clients located in New Jersey, in homes or community settings (e.g. daycares) within a 30-minute drive of Northvale, NJ. Teletherapy is offered as well.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will be charged the full session fee. This policy helps maintain consistency in scheduling and ensures that therapy time is reserved for each client.
